Yesteryear Collection

The Bugatti Type 35 is often referred to as The Classic Grand Prix racing car. Nearly 400 with various engine capacities were built, and in their era they won more races than any other car - over 1000 races in 1926 and 1927 alone.

In 1990 Matchbox decided to introduce the (Y11-5) 1924 Bugatti Type 35 some four years after the earlier (Y11-4) version.

Livery: (Tampo)
Racing number '6' in white on grille and on both sides of tail and bonnet.

Variations/Rarities: It was painted French racing blue and it had a matching blue plastic "Made in Macau" baseplate.
The Bugatti, at 1/35th scale was one of the larger scale models to join the Yesteryear range. (The Sunbeam motorcycle at 1/34th being the largest).

The main changes were the removal of one fuel cap, the addition of 2 bonnet straps instead of painted ones and a spare tyre with all the previously flat finished metal parts now in bright chrome.
The baseplate (still in plastic) was altered to state 'Made in MACAU' as opposed to 'Made in England'. The body colour is much lighter than the previous shade of French Racing Blue.

There are no variations and no rarities.

*Originally it was sold in the P-type plain white boxes by Matchbox Toys USA on the American market as one of the twelve "Great Motor Cars of the Century" promotion. It was later sold by Matchbox Toys in standard N-type boxes to all of the major markets.
